Shannon L. Meara June 19, 1983 - January 20, 2008 Shannon Lee Meara was killed on January 18th 2008. Her body was found in a dumpster. Shannon's ex-boyfriend of only a few months has been arraigned on charges of murder. Shannon was only 24 years old, with her whole life in front of her. She was scheduled to resume her studies to complete her law degree the day after her body was found. Shannon loved to travel, experiment with new recipes, and spend time with her family and friends. Everyone who met her was impressed by her intelligence, kindness, and generosity. She had an infectious smile that could light up a room and brightened the lives of all who knew her. This beautiful life and unfulfilled potential were cut short as the result of domestic violence - a senseless, horrific crime that can be prevented. Events such as Serenity’s Run help provide the awareness, education, and funding necessary to stop domestic violence. Her family is very appreciative that this year’s Run is dedicated to honor their beloved Shannon. Shannon was always the first to try and help others. We cannot help her now, but we can help prevent the death of other potential victims. Shannon would be our strongest supporter in this.
